Ghoulish Caramel Apples

This recipe can be for the kids, but you will have much more fun making these for adults,   Use any ingredients you think would taste good on an apple. I keep dipping them until i can barely lift them..

You will need:
10  tbsp. water might need a little more to get the melting going..
12 firm apples  ( get Big ones)
chopped nuts (optional)

Chopped Raisins (Optional) Frosted Flakes,

toasted Coconut (optional)
microwave-safe bowls
chocolates (optional) Milk, and dark
baking sheets
2 or 3  14-oz. bag caramels
12  popsicle sticks

Directions:
Wash apples, remove stems and dry with a clean kitchen towel.
Push one stick into the center of each apple. Push into the top of the apple, where the stem would be. Set apples aside.
Unwrap caramels and place with the water in a large microwaveable bowl.
In one minute increments, microwave on high, stirring after each minute passes, until caramels are melted.
Remove caramel mixture from microwave.
Hold each apple by the stick and dip into hot caramel sauce, turning to coat. Let excess drip back into pan. Scrape caramel off the bottom of the apple with a knife, or use the edge of the bowl.
If desired roll, coated apples in chopped nuts or others  before the caramel has set.
If desired, melt chocolate in microwave safe bowl in the same manner as described above for caramels. Drip or carefully pour thin lines of chocolate onto the coated apples as caramel is starting to set.
Place coated apples on a greased baking sheet and put in refrigerator for 15 minutes or more, until caramel is set.Be creative, keep dipping, layers  and layers.  more carmel, more chocolate, these apples are not neccesarily for the kids

Store caramel apples in the refrigerator.
